LUBBOCK, Texas. - UT Arlington rebounded from a loss in its opening game to earn a split Saturday at the Texas Tech Invitational at Rocky Johnson Field.
The Mavericks (14-9) dropped the opener to UT Martin before picking up a win against Utah Valley. UTA improved to 3-1 in the tournament.
"This team has to be ready to compete and be scrappy every game no matter who the opponent is and they didn't this morning," UT Arlington coach Kristie Fox said. "I am very proud of the way they were able to turn it around in the second game. It shows a real sign of maturity."
UTA completes play on Sunday against Texas Tech at 12:30 p.m. The Mavs fell to the Red Raiders on Feb. 20 in Arlington. Texas Tech scored seven in the fifth to overcome UTA's 5-1 lead.
"Tomorrow we need to come out ready to compete and stick to playing our game," Fox said.
