Postgame Quotes
UTA Junior Guard Jalen Jones
"We showed a lot of perseverance today. It showed how connected we are as a team. For us to go down after we lost the lead and stick together to make plays in the end shows that we are a tough and have character. Confidence is key in basketball. It is very important. You have to have it to win games. Basketball is a game of runs. There are going to be close games. Knowing that, we have to make big plays when they are needed and we did that today.
"Fordham has a good team. They play really good defense. It was great to be able to show perseverance and get the win in the clutch. This is our first road win. We needed it. We did our best and we came up with the win."
UTA Head Coach Scott Cross
"I think this was the first game all year where our team resembled how we played last year. We had a substantial rebound advantage and I felt like our guys tried to defend the entire game. It was the most unselfish basketball we've seen all year long from our team. The only knock is that we turned the ball over 21 times. In defense, Fordham is number one in the country in creating turnovers.
"I'm really pleased with this game and the way our guys played. I feel like the team we had last year is kind of back. This is a great stepping stone and, hopefully, our guys can continue to build on this. It felt like we took a step in the right direction at Arkansas and against Mount St. Mary's. So, we've taken two steps forward and it is a great time to do it now that we are going on the road to Texas. We are looking forward to that game."
