Postgame Notes
- UTA moves to 2-0 on the season with the 89-75 victory at BYU. BYU drops to 2-1.
- The victory over BYU gives UTA consecutive wins in its first two games of the season for the first time since 2011-12. That year, the Mavericks went 24-9 and won the Southland Conference West Division title.
- The BYU game is part of the Barclays Center Classic. BYU hosts Niagara on Tuesday before traveling to New York for the predetermined final two games. UTA travels to Alabama Tuesday before traveling to Buffalo, N.Y. to play Western Carolin and the winner/loser of Alabama A&M and host Niagara.
- UTA returns to action Tuesday at the University of Alabama. The 8 p.m. (CST) tipoff will be televised live by the SEC Network and streamed online through ESPN3 / WatchESPN.
- Erick Neal went 3-7 from behind the 3-point arc against BYU. He surpassed Drew Charles (174 from 2012-17) for fifth on the school's list for career 3-pointers. He now has 176. Next up is Jamel Outler, who registered 178 treys from 2012-15.
- UTA entered the BYU game with a perfect 4-0 record against teams from the West Coast Conference over the last 12 months. The streak includes road wins at then No. 12 Saint Mary's, Loyola Marymount and BYU last year and a home victory over LMU to open this season.
