POSTGAME NOTES
- UTA falls to 2-1 on the season. Alabama improves to 4-0.
- UTA returns to action Friday against Western Carolina in the Gallagher Center at Niagara University in upstate New York. The Mavericks will play either Alabama A&M or host Niagara on Saturday. Both games (along with the BYU and Alabama contests) are part of the Barclays Center Classic.
- Erick Neal went 4-6 from behind the 3-point line. He passed Jamel Outler for fourth on the program's career list for 3-point attempts with 519. Outler attempted 514 3-pointers from 2012-15.
- Neal also surpassed Outler for fourth on the 3-pointers made list. His 180 surpassed Outler's 178 from 2012-15.
- Kevin Hervey went 4-5 from behind the 3-point arc at Alabama. His 422 surpassed Rodrick Epps' 422 from 2004-08.
- Link Kabadyundi scored a career-high 11 points at Alabama. His previous high was a 7 point effort on Saturday at BYU.
- Erick Neal registered 12 assists at Alabama. He has now opened the season with 3-straight double figure assist games. He entered the Alabama game ranked second in the nation with an average of 10.5 assists per game.
- Erick Neal's 16 points and 12 assists at Alabama marked his third straight double-double and the 10th of his career.
- The last time UTA defeated an Associated Press top 25 team was last December at then-No. 12 Saint Mary's (CA). The Mavericks knocked off the Gaels 65-51 (one of just 3 teams to knock off SMC during the season: Gonzaga and Arizona) on Dec. 8, 2016. That win was UTA's first-ever against an AP top 25 team.
