MONROE, La. - A record breaking performance from Reagan Wright helped UT Arlington push its winning streak to five games, topping ULM on Saturday 12-3 in six innings.

Wright smashed three home runs, just the third in program history to do so, on the way to breaking the team's single-game RBI record with eight, a record that stood since 2009. UTA improved to 19-16 overall and 8-4 in the league, while ULM fell to 19-14 and 6-7. The Mavs, having won three SBC series in a row, look to capture their fourth on Sunday when the teams meet for a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.

Wright finished as one of three UTA hitters to finish with a three-hit game. Aileen Garcia and Brittany Wyllie joined in on the action, with Garcia scoring three runs and driving in one. For the UTA catcher, the three home-run performance joined Elizabeth Harsma (1998) and Brittany Washington (2009) to have a trio of long balls in a game.

"I was just like no way, I couldn't believe it," Wright said of what was going through her mind rounding the bases. "I didn't know it off the bat and saw it go over. I had never hit three home runs in a game."

The 14 hits from the offense tied a season-high, achieved against North Texas, while the 12 runs are a team season-high that Wright hopes will mean good things for Sunday.

"It is great that we put so many runs up against them and go into tomorrow with a win," Wright said. "We just need to carry through the momentum from today."

Sandra Mendoza extended her hitting streak to nine games with a single coming in the sixth, while Laura Curry finished with two hits and two runs.

The pitching tandem of JoJo Valencia and Randi Phillips continued to be a spark for the defense. Valencia threw three innings, allowing five hits but only one earned run, while Phillips tossed three, giving up four hits and two earned. Phillips improved to 10-5 in picking up the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Maverick offense found its stride in the early frames, building up a 5-1 lead through three by scoring in each. Garcia started things off as her hard-hit ball at the second baseman wasn't able to be fielded cleanly, allowing Curry to trot home. ULM loaded the bases in the bottom half with three hits, but a liner right at Cy'Andria Newton in left ended the threat.

Kjirstyn Murphy helped double up the lead with a double into right center to start off the second. Brittany Wyllie brought her in on a single into left. ULM provided a brief answer in the bottom half, trimming the lead to one.

Garcia walked with one out in the third, followed by a double down the line to set the stage for Wright. The junior sent a no-doubter over the left-field fence. The UTA catcher came up big again in the fifth, knocking a two-run shot into the same location as UTA held a 7-1 lead. ULM stranded two again in the bottom half, going just 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position through five frames.

The Mendoza sisters opened up the sixth by reaching safely, Melanie drawing a walk and Sandra extending her hitting streak with a single through the left side. Both would come home, followed by Wright's third blast of the day.
