ARLINGTON, Texas – Four UTA volleyball players earned conference recognition for helping lead the Mavericks to a 16-12 overall record (8-8 SBC) and the No. 7 seed in the upcoming Sun Belt Volleyball Championships (Nov. 21-24). Madelyn St. Germain was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year and earned a spot on the All-Sun Belt Second Team, Madison Hill was selected to her second All-Sun Belt First Team and Kylie Jedlicka and Brooke Townsend garnered All-Sun Belt Second Team selections, the league announced on Tuesday (Nov. 19).
"This group of athletes dedicated themselves to their game and their team to create the best season possible," said head coach J.T. Wenger. "The 4th year athletes (Madison, Madelyn, and Kylie) have all overcome significant physical setbacks in their careers, and this is really a testament to their perseverance and will to earn All-Conference recognition. Madelyn has really worked hard over the past 2 seasons, and to earn DPOY really speaks to her drive and character. Madison has been an offensive force since arriving at UTA, and added some new versatility this year that increased her potency. Kylie has been a staple both in serve receive and as a big part of our offense and Brooke started really strong out of the gates this season, and never dropped off. She had a great spring, and it really transferred to the 2019 season. It has been a honor to work with these women this season."
