HOW IT HAPPENED
The Mavericks traded points with Austin Peay through the opening set until Evyn Snook's kill tied it at 7-7, Samantha Glenn served an ace, and Snook added another kill from Lucy Tricco for a 9-7 lead. UTA moved ahead 13-9 after a Hana Aiana kill and her block on a Malena Benz attack error, but Austin Peay closed within 14-13 before a service error and Tricco ace pushed the Mavericks back in front 16-13. Austin Peay later cut the margin to 19-18 with three straight points, and Snook answered with a kill before Aiana's kill and a Camryn McMinn-Aiana block helped the Mavericks reach 22-19. Camryn McMinn served UTA to a 4-0 start in the second set, with Nessl and Snook putting down kills around two Austin Peay attack errors, one of them blocked by Nessl and Snook. Austin Peay worked back within 10-7 after a Cree Hollier service ace and a Nicole Okojie kill, but the Mavericks steadied the set with points from Nessl, Tricco, Snook and McMinn to stay in front. Snook's kill made it 19-13, and UTA stretched the margin to 22-13 on McMinn's kill and consecutive Snook service aces. Austin Peay fought off four set points from 24-15 to 24-19 before Snook finished the set with a kill for a 25-19 Mavericks win.
After the teams traded points early and UTA held an 8-7 edge, Karisa Martin's kill started a 7-of-8 stretch that included three Snook kills and a Camryn McMinn service ace to push the lead to 15-8. The Mavericks stayed in front at 20-15 on McMinn's kill, but Austin Peay scored four straight points and later pulled even at 21-21 on a UTA attack error.
