TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Fresh off the best individual cross country performance in school history, UTA senior
Justin Domangue will finish his decorated cross country career at the NCAA Championships on Saturday morning.
Â
Last Friday, Domangue enjoyed a record-setting day. His fourth-place showing (30:02.6) at the NCAA South Central Regional was the highest individual regional finish in school history. As the top finisher on a non-qualifying team, he became the first Maverick runner ever to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championships more than once.
This will be the seventh-ever NCAA appearance by a UTA male, and the fourth since 2016. Last year, Domangue placed 169th at the NCAA Championships in Madison, Wis.
Â
He is one of three Sun Belt Conference runners to reach the 2019 NCAA Championships, joining fellow first-team all-league performers Adriaan and Nadeel Wildschutt of Coastal Carolina.
Â
The men's 10,000-meter race will begin at 11:15 a.m. (CT) on the LaVern Gibson Championship Course. The 250-acre complex specifically designed for the sole purpose of cross country running has hosted 15 national championships and earned Terre Haute the nickname the "Cross Country Capital of the World."
