WHEN: April 26-28
WHERE: Boone, North Carolina | Sywassink/Lloyd Family Stadium

GAME 3 (12 p.m. ET): WATCH LIVE | LIVE STATS

SERIES HISTORY
The Mavericks are in control of the all-time series against the Mountaineers, 9-3.  Five of the wins have come in run-rule games. UTA swept the series a season ago, winning all three games played at Allan Saxe Field.  The last time they played in Boone (2017), however, App State took two of three over the Mavs.

UTA NOTES
• Since falling to 6-9 in conference play, the Mavericks have won six straight Sun Belt league games, sweeping both ULM and Coastal Carolina over the past two series. The six-game conference win streak is the longest the Mavericks have had since joining the Sun Belt in 2014 and the longest in any conference since winning six straight in 2011 while part of the Southland Conference.
• After sweeping the Chanticleers a week ago, the Mavericks have locked up a spot in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. Currently sitting in the fifth place in the league, the Mavericks will look to jump Appalachian State (.5 GB) and Texas State (1.5 GB) in the final two series.
• The Mavericks need just four more conference wins to break their season record for Sun Belt wins.  Coach Brun and Mavericks set the record a season ago when they won 15 games.
• Whitney Walton needs to score two more times in order to break the single-season record for runs scored.  She currently has scored 43 times in 2019. If she gets to 45, she will break the record set by Katie Jones in 2007.

KNOW YOUR OPPONENT | APPALACHIAN STATE
• While the Mountaineers haven't hit a lot of home runs, Alison Durrence has the second most home runs in the Sun Belt.  The freshman has hit 12 home runs this season.
• The App State pitching staff has done a good job locking down opponents this season.  Their 2.68 ERA is the third lowest in the Sun Belt.
• Kenzie Longanecker has the third lowest ERA in the Sun Belt this season, earning a 2.08 ERA on the season.
• The Mountaineers are 30-17 overall and 12-8 in the Sun Belt. They are coming off a doubleheader against Western Carolina where they split with the Catamounts. Their most recent Sun Belt series resulted in losing two of three games against Troy.

ON DECK
UTA will wrap up the regular season with a Senior Weekend series against Texas State on May 2-4 at Allan Saxe Field. The first game will be at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 2nd. Senior Day will be at noon on Saturday, May 4.

LAST TIME OUT | Softball Jumps Coastal in Sun Belt Standings with Series Sweep (April 20)
The UT Arlington softball team completed the sweep of Coastal Carolina as they beat the Chanticleers 6-4 on Saturday at Allen Saxe Field.

Mavericks' third-baseman, Brittany Wyllie had a big game as she went 3-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored.

The Mavericks (23-22, 12-9 Sun Belt) got the bats going early as right-fielder, Bri Burchianti singled up the middle, followed by a bunt-single by center-fielder, Laura Curry to put runners on first and second in the bottom of the first inning. After catcher, Reagan Wright drew a walk to load the bases, Wyllie hit a bloop-single to center field to bring home Burchianti and Curry to give UTA a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first.

UTA's lead didn't last long as Coastal Carolina designated-player, Adrienne Visintine hit a two-run shot to left-center field to even things up at two in the top of the second inning.

Maverick starter, Laura Henriksen pitched 1.1 innings and surrendered 2 earned runs on three hits and two walks.

Coastal Carolina took the lead as catcher, Samantha Sack hit a two-run homer to center field to make it 4-2 in the top of the fourth.

After taking over in the second, reliever, Randi Phillips pitched 2.2 innings and gave up 2 earned runs on two hits and a walk and struck out one batter.

The Mavericks made it a one-run game as left-fielder, Melanie Mendoza hit a double to shallow-right field to bring home second-baseman, Avery Grimes to bring the score to 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth. Grimes finished 2-for-3 with a run scored.

UTA rallied with two outs in the bottom of the fifth as first-baseman, Aileen Garcia and Wright both singled to put runners on first and second for Wyllie. Garcia finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and Wright finished 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. Wyllie collected her third hit of the day as she brought home Garcia on a single to left field to tie the game 4-4.

The Mavericks took the lead as designated-player, K.J. Murphy doubled to right-center field to bring home Wright and Wyllie, making it 6-4 in the bottom of the fifth.  Murphy finished 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Reliever, Allie Gardiner (5-5) got the win for the Mavericks as she pitched three innings and gave up no runs on no hits or walks and struck out two batters.
Coastal Carolina starter, Kaitlin Beasley-Polko pitched 4.2 innings and gave up 6 earned runs on 11 hits and a walk and struck out two batters

BARK IN THE PARK…ALL SEASON LONG
UT Arlington Department of Athletics officials announced that all 2019 home baseball games at Clay Gould Ballpark and softball games at Allan Saxe Field will be dog-friendly, thanks to a generous partnership with upstart Lone Star Friends of Animals to create 'Casey's Corner.'

Dogs which are leashed, at least six months old and with the proper vaccinations will be permitted at all UTA baseball and softball games throughout the season.

Casey's Corner is a grassy area between the baseball and softball fields, along the 3rd-base line of the baseball stadium. Multiple pet waste stations have been set up, and the space provides fans and dog owners an opportunity to walk and sit with their canine companions while taking in all the Maverick action.
