Maverick Baseball Announces Date for Annual First Pitch Banquet
12/21/2021 10:18:00 AM | Baseball
ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington's 11th annual First Pitch Fundraiser will be held Friday, February 11th at the Justin D. Wilson Hitting Facility inside the grounds of Clay Gould Ballpark. The event is set to begin at 6:30 p.m.Â
Â
The First Pitch Fundraiser has been a staple for the Maverick Baseball program, with the last event bringing in more than $11,0000 in revenue. All proceeds from ticket sales and table sponsorships from the First Pitch Fundraiser directly benefit the UTA baseball program and student-athletes but offsetting the costs of scholarships, team meals, gear, travel, facility upgrades and much more. There will be dinner, music, drinks, and silent and live auction.
Â
This year, the First Pitch Fundraiser will feature a short program, including a Q&A section with UTA Alumnus Gene Watson. Watson played for UTA from 1989-1991 and is currently the VP/Assistant General Manager for Major League Scouting for the Kansas City Royals. Currently in his 15th season with the Royals, Watson began his scouting career in 2006 and has worked for the Marlins, Padres, and Braves organizations as well.
Event questions should be referred to Assistant Director of Maverick Club Kyle Callender (kyle.callender@uta.edu or 817.272.0694). Fans and supporters are encouraged to purchase tickets as soon as possible to reserve their seat for the event. Purchase tickets online HERE.
The Mavericks season begins on Feb. 18 when they host Texas A&M Corpus Christi at Clay Gould Ballpark for a three-game series. UTA, who has historically played a competitive schedule, will do so again in 2022 as they will take on five non-conference schools who made the 2021 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament, hosting Michigan (Feb. 21), Nebraska (March 4-5), Army (March 8-9) and TCU (April 5), while playing a neutral game against DBU.
