Softball Hosts No. 15 Louisiana For SBC Play

ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington softball team (3-15) will continue Sun Belt Conference competition and welcome No. 15 Louisiana (13-4) to Allan Saxe Field this weekend (Mar. 19-21) with the first pitch set to begin Friday at 7:30 p.m.
 
The Mavericks came up short at North Texas Wednesday (Mar. 17) in a midweek matchup. After an on-going close contest, UTA fell to the Mean Green by just one run, 5-4.

UTA NOTES
  • The last win the Mavericks had against the Ragin' Cajuns was back in the 2018 season where UTA picked up the 4-3 win at Allan Saxe Field.
  • Senior third baseman KJ Murphy has started in all 18 games for the Mavs with a .340 batting average, 7 RBI's, 8 walks, 5 doubles, 2 home runs and a .556 slugging percentage.
  • The Baytown, Texas native produced 4 hits in the first conference series against Troy (Mar. 13-14) in her 8 at-bats with a .500 on-base percentage recording 1 RBI over the weekend.
  • Freshman second baseman Jessica Carreon is batting .325 on the year with a .413 on-base percentage.
  • In conference play, Madison Miller and Emily Evans hit .333 in the series against the Trojans while Miller tallied 1 RBI.
  • Sophomore Kenedy Hines has the most time in the circle for the UTA pitching staff (32.1 IP) with 14 strike outs over 142 at-bats.
  • California native Laura Henriksen has a 2.45 ERA on the season wit 18.1 innings pitched.

  • Louisiana has a 13-4 overall record on the season with its losses to No. 12 LSU twice, No. 6 Oklahoma State and Baylor.
  • Senior outfielder Ciara Bryan has started in all 17 games this season for the Ragin' Cajuns with a .483 batting average. The Georgia native is 9-9 in stolen base attempts and leads Louisiana in doubles (4).
  • Fellow senior, Justice Milz, leads the team in RBI's (18) and home runs (3). The infielder follows Bryan with a .333 batting average on the year.
  • Sophomore Kandra Lamb (5-1) leads the pitching rotation for Louisiana with 44.2 innings pitched, 53 strike outs with a 2.51 ERA.
  • Summer Ellyson trails Lamb just shy of 3 innings in the circle (41.2 IP) recording 36 strike outs on the year and an ERA of 2.52.
ON DECK
The Mavericks will travel to Nacogdoches, Texas Wednesday (Mar. 24) at Stephen F. Austin for a midweek game that is set to begin at 6:00 p.m.
