Â
UTA finished with 16 hits on the day, led by Josh Minjarez' 4-for-5 day at the plate. He led the Mavs with five RBI, four coming off a grand slam in the eighth inning. Andrew Miller, Tyler Rice and Dylan Paul each finished with two hits. Miller joined Minjarez with a multi-RBI day, finishing with two. JD Wadeligh, Connor Aube and Cason Gregory each drove in one run. Aube connected on a solo home run in the seventh inning – his sixth home run of the season.
Â
The Bobcats got on the board first, scoring two runs in the third inning. With two outs, Texas State hit a single and double to put runners at second and third. A diving Montgomery made a stop on a hard-hit ground ball to third base with the next batter, but an errant throw pulled Paul off first base and allowed two runs to score.
Â
Texas State got back to work in the fourth inning. Back-to-back singles put the Bobcats in business before a double to left field push two more runs home. Another single through the left side of the infield scored the final run of the inning as the Bobcats took a 5-0 lead.
Â
The Mavericks were able to load the bases for JD Wadleigh in the seventh inning. Wadleigh hit a ground ball through the right side of the infield to make it a 5-1 game.
Â
The bats got hot in the eighth inning. Connor Aube led off with his sixth home run of the season to cut into the Bobcat deficit, 5-2. Paul walk, while Montgomery and Tyler Rice singled to load the bases for Josh Minjarez. With a full count, the sixth-year senior unloaded on his second grand slam in as many weeks to put the Mavericks up 6-5.

Â
The Bobcats got one back in the bottom of the ninth with a two-out solo home run, but it was not enough as the Mavericks held on to the win, 10-6.
