Softball Welcomes No. 8 Texas For Midweek Play

ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington softball team will welcome No. 8 Texas to Allan Saxe Field Wednesday for a midweek matchup with the first pitch set to begin at 6:00 p.m.

The Mavericks will face the Longhorns for the third time this season after participating in the Bevo Classic (Mar. 26-28) where UTA nearly took one from Texas but came up short 2-1.

UTA NOTES
  • UTA is coming off a big Sun Belt Conference sweep over ULM where the Mavericks tallied 28 runs off 34 hits across the three-game series.
  • Freshman Jessica Carreon paced UTA's offense last week finishing with a .600 average at the plate which raised her overall average to .352 on the season.
  • The College Station native has 10 walks this year with a .439 on-base percentage.
  • Senior KJ Murphy remained hot at the plate going 7-13 (.538) last week with 7 RBI, 4 walks, 1 home run and a .769 slugging percentage.
  • The third baseman continues to lead UTA with a .387 batting average, 20 RBI, 8 doubles and 15 walks.
  • In the circle, Laura Henriksen (1-2) paces the pitching staff with a 2.78 ERA on the season.
  • The Mavericks improved their season record to 11-20 with a 4-5 record in Sun Belt play.

  • Redshirt junior Taylor Ellsworth follows Jefferson with a .414 average at the plate with 8 doubles, 3 home runs, 17 RBI and a .707 slugging percentage on the year.
  • Sophomore ace Shea O'Leary (7-0) leads the pitching rotation for the Longhorns with 70.1 innings pitched, 69 strike outs with a 1.19 ERA.
