MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The UT Arlington baseball team completed their sweep in pool play at the Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Friday, defeating Troy 11-5 at Riverwalk Stadium. The Mavericks secured a berth in the semifinals yesterday with their win over Arkansas State.
Nine pitchers tossed in the win with
Jarod Seals picking up his first win of the season.
Riley Bost started the game, allowing one run in one inning.
Wyatt Divis,
Cade Winquest,
Matt Novis,
Brennan Smith and
Logan Austin each threw one shutout inning.
Jack Hagan allowed one run in his solo inning of pitching, while
Tristan Tom gave up three runs in one inning.
The Mavericks finished with 13 hits in the game, led by
Andrew Miller's 3-for-5 day at the plate.
Boone Montgomery and
Connor Aube each finished with multi-hit performances. Aube hit his second home run in as many days to drive in two scores, while
Cason Gregory knocked in two more.
The Mavericks put up six runs in the first inning and batted around the order in the first inning for the second time in two games at the Sun Belt Tournament. The first four Mavericks reached base with
Connor Aube driving in the first run with a single to center field. A failed pickoff attempt allowed
Josh Minjarez to score with the next at bat.
Wyatt Divis connected on a double down the left field line to score one run, while
Cason Gregory hit a line drive to right field to push in two runs.
Boone Montgomery ended the scoring with an RBI double to left field.
The Trojans used a one-out solo home run off the scoreboard in left center to get one run back in the bottom of the first.
Dylan Paul smashed his first home run of the tournament with a 377-foot solo blast to right field in the second inning.
Connor Aube hit his second home run of the tournament in the 4
th inning with a 378-footer to left field to extend the Maverick lead to seven runs.
A two-out error on a ball hit to third base by
Boone Montgomery pushed in the ninth run of the day for the Mavericks as
Sam Gotlieb scored from second base.
The Trojans used a two-out rally in the fifth inning with three straight batters reaching base to score one run.
The Mavericks answered in the sixth inning with one run. With runners on first and second, Miller connected on a line drive to center field to push in the runner at second.
The Trojans sprayed three hits and used one error to score three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
UTA loaded the bases in the 8
th inning, using a five-pitch walk to bring in the 11
th run of the game.

The Mavericks will head to the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament to take on South Alabama tomorrow (May 29) at noon at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery.
