SET 1 | UTA 23, TROY 25 | TROY LEADS 1-0
A battle ensued in set one with the largest lead either team could get was three, at a score of 11-8 following a Briana Ford kill. The Trojans battled back with a 3-0 run to tie the set at 19 and force a timeout. The team traded points until the Trojans scored back-to-back points in the final two points of the set to take a 1-0 lead.

SET 2 | UTA 22, TROY 25 | TROY LEADS 2-0
The Trojans jumped out to an early 9-4 lead, but a kill from Briana Brown sparked a 6-1 run as the Mavericks came back to tie the set at 10. With the set still tied at 20, Troy took a timeout to try and regroup. The Trojans would win five of the final seven points to take set two 25-22.
