TOURNAMENT HISTORY
At the 2019 edition of the Mark Simpson Colorado Invite, UTA posted the 2nd-best 54-hole score to par in program history with a blistering -18. The 846 total registered as the 6th best in program annals.
Â
That resulted in the Mavs finishing in 4th place despite playing all three rounds under par for the tournament. Colorado defended its home course – where altitude plays a significant factor – with an 829 total to win.
Â
Individually, Gonzalez tied for 5th with a career-best -10; the 206 total is tied for the 7th best in program history. Cox tied for 8th close behind at -8; his 208 total represented a career best. In the opening round, Cox carded a career-low-tying 68. Hicks is the only other UTA member teeing it up this week who played the event in 2019, and he shot E to tie for 31st.
Â
INSIDE THE LINEUP
UTA continues its stretch of playing four-straight weeks to open the 2021-22 season when the Mavs head to SMU's Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas Oct. 4-6.

The world's only Major League Baseball-branded golf course, TRGC is the result of a $24 million renovation and updated routing of the former Chester W. Ditto Golf Course.

INSIDE THE LINEUP
- Through two events, Gonzalez leads the Mavs with a scoring average of 72.83. His low round of the year is a 68, and he's posted four par-or-better rounds in six opportunities. Gonzalez's next counting score will be the 100th of his career, joining only six other Mavs who have reached that mark.
 - Hicks carries a 75.33 average score into this week through six rounds. His best round so far this month was a 2-under 70 in the 2nd round of the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate on Sept. 12.
 - A transfer from North Texas, Miya cracks the team lineup for the third time in as many tries with UTA. He holds a 75.50 scoring average so far this season, and posted a T-22 last week at UTSA's Lone Star Invitational to represent UTA's 2nd-best finish.
 - Steinarsson will also be in the team lineup for the third-straight time and carries the exact same 75.50 scoring average into this week as Miya. The sophomore's best round was a 1-under 71 to open the season.
 - Cox competed as an individual at Texas Wesleyan's Texas Intercollegiate Sept. 13-14, finishing tied for 11th with rounds of 78-70-71: 219 (+3). However, this will be the first time he's in the team lineup this season. Despite just posting three rounds this year, his two under-par performances are the 2nd most on the team behind Gonzalez.
UTA continues its stretch of playing four-straight weeks to open the 2021-22 season when the Mavs head to SMU's Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas Oct. 4-6.
