LAKE CHARLES, Louisiana – The UT Arlington softball team looks to keep the same momentum from Tuesday night's thriller of a win against Baylor as the squad prepares for McNeese's three-day Evangeline Bank and Trust II Invitational beginning Feb. 25.
The Mavericks (4-6) stunned Baylor Tuesday after an electric 12-3 run-rule victory on UTA's home turf at Allan Saxe Field.
This weekend's tournament in Lake Charles, Louisiana, the Mavs will commence action with two games on Friday at 10:00 a.m. to take on Memphis before taking the field immediately after to face Manhattan at 12:15 p.m.
UTA will play just one contest on Saturday with a 10:00 a.m. start against Sam Houston and will wrap up tournament play on Sunday at 2:45 p.m. when the Mavs face the host, McNeese.

- UTA improved its overall record as the squad is coming off a big 12-3 run-rule victory over Baylor Tuesday.
- Tuesday's win marked the first time the Mavericks have defeated the Bears since the 2019 season at Baylor's Getterman Classic.
- Sophomore Morgan Westbrook got things going in the 11-run second inning against the Bears as she came away with 4 RBI and a three-run home run- first of her career at UTA.
- Third baseman KJ Murphy (1-4) and freshman Aaliyah White (2-3) both recorded 2 RBI.
- Murphy continues to pace the Mavericks offensively as the graduate student holds a team-high .488 batting average,13 hits, 8 RBI, 7 walks and a .655 slugging percentage.
- Over six games started, White has a .467 average at the plate this season with 7 hits and 4 RBI.
- Freshman right-handed pitcher Jessica Adams leads the Mavericks' pitching staff with a 3.26 ERA and has 3 wins to her name this season. Across 34.1 innings pitched, Adams has recorded 17 strike outs.
- UTA relied on the arm of Adams in Tuesday night's contest against Baylor as the freshman threw all five innings while allowing just two earned runs.

- The Tigers went 1-4 at the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational with their lone win coming from a 5-4 victory against Austin Peay.
- Junior Camryn Wineinger leads the team's offense with a .500 batting average. Over 28 plate appearances, Wineinger has tabbed 14 hits and 8 RBI.
- Outfielder Gracie Morton is one of three Tigers that have played in all 10 games so far this season. Morton holds a .333 batting average, 12 hits and 4 RBI.
- Right-handed pitcher Hallie Siems leads the pitching rotation with 24.1 innings pitched and a 3.16 ERA.

- Manhattan had a successful 2021 season as the Jaspers tabbed a 22-16 overall record.

- The Bearkats are coming off a 2-2 weekend at the Louisiana Tech Invitational with wins over Tulsa and Louisiana Tech.
- Three players currently hold above a .300 batting average as sophomore Kylie Hobbs has a team-high .393 batting average.
- Ellie Grill follows Hobbs with a .350 average as freshman Brodie Quinlan holds a .313 average.
- Sophomore pitcher Mika Vento has one win in the circle so far this season with a 3.82 ERA – lowest on the Bearkat pitching staff.
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT- McNeese (6-4)
- McNeese has had a solid start to the 2022 season with a 6-4 record. The Cowgirls went 1-3 at the Houston Classic (Feb. 18-19) with two losses to No. 1 Oklahoma followed by a loss from Texas State. However, McNeese defeated the host, Houston, with a final score of 8-3.
- Chloe Gomez and Jose Willingham both have 10 hits on the season as Gomez currently leads the Cowgirl's bats with a .400 batting average and 5 RBI.
- On the mound, Ashley Vallejo sits on a 4.75 ERA, 30.1 innings pitched, 17 strike outs and 3 wins so far this season.
