ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington softball team (6-8) will open Sun Belt Conference competition against South Alabama (6-13) with a three-game series beginning with Saturday's doubleheader at 1:00 p.m. at Allan Saxe Field.
It was a pitcher's duel Tuesday night as the Mavs suffered a close 0-2 loss to Stephen F. Austin with the only two runs of the game came from a Ladyjack two-run home run in the top of the first inning.

UTA NOTES
- After nine days of no competition due to a flu-like illness, the Mavs resumed action with a midweek game against SFA.
- Courtney Ogle was responsible for UTA's lone hit of the night against Ladyjack's ace Kassidy Wilbur.
- Freshman Aaliyah White leads the Maverick's offense with a .458 batting average this season. White has started in 10 games for UTA with 11 hits, 7 RBI, a .542 slugging percentage and a .519 on-base percentage.
- Third baseman KJ Murphy holds the second-highest batting average (.372). The graduate student has 16 hits on the season with 10 RBI - most of the Mavs.
- Freshman pitcher Jessica Adams has been UTA's go-to on the mound. Adams sits on a 3.11 ERA and has struck out 30 batters across 54 innings pitched.
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT
- South Alabama sits on an overall record of 6-13 as the Jaguars went 2-3 at the Tennessee Invitational over the weekend (Mar. 4-6).
- USA defeated Dartmouth College twice with final scores of 1-0 and 5-2.
- Across all 19 games started, junior Mackenzie Brasher leads the squad with a .291 batting average and 16 hits.
- Sophomore Abby Allen leads the Jags in several categories with 3 home runs, a .500 slugging percentage and 10 walks. Allen also holds the second-highest number of RBI (7) and hits (11).
- In the circle, sophomore Olivia Lackie leads South Alabama's pitching staff with a 2.51 ERA and 23 strike outs on the season. With a 4-3 overall record, Lackie has spent 44.2 innings on the mound and has appeared in 13 games.
ON DECK
The Mavericks will head down to San Antonio to face Incarnate Word for a Tuesday night game on March 15 at 4 p.m. The following day on March 16, UTA will welcome No. 13 Oklahoma State to Allan Saxe Field at 6 p.m.
