NEW ORLEANS, La. – Seniors
Bryson DeBerry,
Jade Bontke, and
Lucas Van Klaveren were named Second Team All-Americans on Monday morning by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
DeBerry placed ninth in the high jump at 2.15 meters and earned All-American honors for the second consecutive season. It is DeBerry's third All-American honor, earning second team during the outdoor championships last season, and first team a year ago at indoor.
Bontke placed 13th in the country in the pentathlon in the NCAA Championships and earned her first collegiate All-American honors.
Van Klaveren closed out the heptathlon with a 16th place finish in the national championship with 5,597 points to garner his first collegiate All-American honors.
Athletes of member institutions who finished in the top-8 of their respective individual events and relays at the 2022 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend in Birmingham, Alabama, took home First-Team All-America honors, while those who placed ninth through 16th individually and as part of a relay earned Second-Team All-America. The remaining athletes were honorable mention.
The trio will join the rest of the team as they move into the outdoor season, which opened up last Saturday, and will look to make a return trip to the NCAA Championships.
