ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington softball team (17-17, 7-8 SBC) looks to host Georgia Southern this weekend for a three-game Sun Belt Conference series beginning Friday, April 15 at 3:00 p.m. CT.
The Mavericks sit at an even 17-17 overall record with a 7-8 conference record after UTA picked up a big 9-0 victory at ACU Tuesday, Apr. 12.
UTA is looking to improve their Sun Belt record as the Mavericks lost the series to Georgia State last weekend 2-1 in Atlanta. The Mavs took game one of the series in a 5-1 win over the Panthers however, Georgia State went on to clinch the series in an 8-7 win in extras.

SERIES HISTORY
The Mavericks lead the overall series with the Eagles 8-7 as the most recent conference series came back in March of 2019. UTA won the series 2-1 over Georgia Southern in Arlington at Allan Saxe Field. In Arlington, the Mavs lead the series 5-4 and in Statesboro, the series is tied 3-3.
UTA NOTES (17-17) (7-8, SBC)
- The Mavericks are coming off a 9-0 run-rule victory at Abilene Christian on Tuesday, Arp. 12 as UTA sits on an overall record of 17-17.
- At ACU, the Mavericks' bats exploded in the fifth inning as the team piled on nine runs off seven hits that led to a 9-0 run-rule victory over the Wildcats.
- Freshman Max and sophomore Bumpurs faced a total of 20 batters as Max ultimately earned her first career-win in the circle for UTA. Not only did the lefty tab her first career-win, but she also reached a new game-high of four strike outs.
- Bumpurs came in for Max in the bottom of the fifth as the sophomore didn't allow a single hit over the four Wildcats faced. In the one inning on the mound, Bumpurs came away with two strike outs.
- Tuesday's outings from both Max and Bumpurs marked the first time UTA has tabbed a no-hitter since April of 2015 where former Mav, Sam Montes, threw a no-hitter against Central Arkansas. As this also was the first career-combined no-hitter for the pair.
- Graduate student Morgan Rios leads the Mavs with a .338 batting average as she extended her reached base streak to 10 games.
- Senior Meagan Smith holds a team-high of 8 home runs with 25 RBI and a .620 slugging percentage.
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT – Georgia Southern (9-21) (4-8, SBC)
- The conference series between the Eagles and Coastal Carolina last weekend in Statesboro was postponed. The weekend prior, Georgia Southern lost the series to App State 2-1 in Boone, North Carolina.
- The Eagles did manage to pick up a win in the final game of the series 11-8.
- Senior Faith Shirley leads the Eagles with a .337 batting average, 30 hits, 23 RBI and 13 walks on the season. Shirley is also currently tied with the most home runs on the squad (8) with fellow senior, Jess Mazur.
- Not only had Mazur tabbed 8 home runs this year, the outfielder trails Shirley closely with 22 RBI.
- On the mound, sophomore Anna Fiel holds a low 2.63 ERA over just 8 innings pitched this season.
- Junior pitcher Kastin Belogorska has spent the most time in the circle for the Eagles with 83.0 innings pitched this year as she also leads the pitching staff with 46 strike outs. Belogorska sits on a 3-9 record with a 5.57 ERA.
ON DECK.
UTA host the Baylor Bears for the second time this season as the Mavericks are set to face the Bears on Tuesday, Apr. 19 with the first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m.
The last time Baylor was at Allan Saxe Field, UTA defeated the Bears in a 12-3 run-rule victory back at the Mavericks home opener earlier this season on Feb. 23.
