MOBILE, Ala. – Coming off a series loss against Texas State that wrapped up regular season play, the UT Arlington softball team is set to compete in the Sun Belt Conference Championship starting Wednesday, May 11 at 1 p.m. against the #4 seed, Troy.
The conference tournament will be held on South Alabama's home turf at Jaguar Field beginning Tuesday, May 10 through Saturday, May 14.
The Mavericks opened the SBC Tournament against Trojans a season ago where UTA defeated Troy 2-1. Two days later, Troy went on to defeat the Mavs 3-1 that eliminated UTA from the tournament. UTA took the series loss this season at Troy after the Mavericks picked up a 3-1 win in game two of the series. Freshman lefty
Morgan Max threw a complete game as she limited the Trojan's offense to just two hits which aided to the victory.

UTA NOTES (22-25) (12-15, SBC)
- The UT Arlington softball team concluded its 2022 regular season with an overall record of 22-25 and a conference record of 12-15.
- The Mavericks are looking to bounce back this week after going 0-3 against Texas State at Allan Saxe Field in the final action of the regular season.
- Catcher Morgan Rios was the lone Maverick that received All-Conference Second Team honors. With an overall batting average of .310 and a .303 average in Sun Belt play alone, she holds the highest numbers on the UTA squad.
- KJ Murphy has started in all 47 games for the Mavs this season as she shared a team-high 26 RBI with Rios and Meagan Smith. Murphy leads the way with 44 hits and 32 runs scored this season.
- Freshman righty Jessica Adams has been UTA's ace in the circle as she mains a 3.22 ERA - best of the staff. Adams has started 26 games this season while making 38 appearances. She has tossed 180.2 innings of work with 75 strike outs. Along the way, she's picked up two saves and has thrown 13 complete games.

- Troy finished with an overall record of 29-19 and a 15-12 in Sun Belt Conference play.
- Sophomore Jade Sinness currently holds 43 hits which is the third highest in the conference.
- Junior pitcher Leanna Johnson has been Troy's ace this season as she has thrown 186 innings of work so far this year. Johnson is tied with Texas State's Jessica Mullins for the most strike outs on the season with 234.
- Junior Kelly Horne leads the Trojan offense with 27 RBI, 13 home runs, a .760 slugging percentage and 44 walks. Horne also leads the pack with a .372 batting average – fourth highest in the Sun Belt.
