ARLINGTON – Bringing a professional and Division-I playing background and previous collegiate coaching experience, former UT Arlington Director of Operations
KaeLynn Boyd has been promoted to assistant coach, women's basketball head coach
Shereka Wright announced on Wednesday.
Â
Boyd spent the 2021-22 season as the Lady Mavs Director of Operations after joining Wright's initial staff the previous year as a graduate assistant manager.
Â
Before coming to UTA, Boyd served as an assistant coach at Jacksonville College (2019-20) in Jacksonville, Texas, and Arkansas-Fort Smith (2018-19). She also led the St. Helena High School program from 2016-18, where she guided the team to its first playoff season in decades.
Â
"KaeLynn has been loyal and worked her way up the ladder to become an assistant coach," said Wright, the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year. "She is a relationship-builder and has incredible energy. KaeLynn will be a great asset to our coaching staff."
Â
Boyd played three seasons for UTRGV before finishing her collegiate playing career and graduating from Southeastern Louisiana in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.
Â
The New Orleans native started 60 games and racked up 778 points, 305 rebounds, 297 assists, 132 steals and knocked down 81 triples during her time at UTRGV and Southeastern. Boyd spent the 2018 season playing professionally overseas for K.B. Tirana in Albania.
Â
Boyd was part of a UTA program which won the Sun Belt Tournament Championship this past March in its final year in the conference. The Lady Mavs finished with a 20-8 record and nearly upset No. 3 seed Iowa State on its home floor in the NCAA Tournament. UTA will join the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) on July 1.
