ARLINGTON --- For the second straight week and third time overall this season, Mollie Blank has been named the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Setter of the Week.
Â
The Mansfield native, who has achieved at least 33 assists in eight straight matches, averaged 10.57 assists, 2.57 digs, 1.64 points and 1.29 kills per set over a pair of wins last week as the UT Arlington volleyball team improved to 19-8 overall and 8-6 within WAC play.
"Mollie has elevated her game as the season has progressed," UTA head coach J.T. Wenger said. "She has done a great job putting our hitters in advantageous positions."
Â
Blank opened the week with 37 assists, 12 digs, three kills, two aces and a block in a win over Utah Valley. It was her sixth double-double of the season and 28th of her career. Following that, she concluded the week with 37 assists, six digs and a season-best six kills in a win over Seattle U.
Â
With Blank's distribution skills, the Mavs hit .550 as a team against Seattle U, which was the program's highest single match hitting percentage in over 30 years, or since Nov. 20, 1992.
Â
Blank also won the award on Sept. 20 along with her Nov. 1 selection. It's her fourth career weekly award along with a WAC Defensive Player of the Week award Nov. 14 of last year.
Â
UTA will conclude the regular season on the road this week against California Baptist (Thursday, 9 p.m.) and Grand Canyon (Saturday, 5 p.m.). The WAC tournament begins Nov. 16.
