ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington softball team will face the Mean Green of North Texas for the second time this season Wednesday, Mar. 29 with the first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. at Allan Saxe Field.
The Mavericks are fresh off an 0-3 weekend after their WAC series at California Baptist as UTA now sits on an overall record of 11-17.

SERIES HISTORY
The Mavericks lead the overall series record with the Mean Green, 34-24. At Allan Saxe Field, UTA is 21-9. Earlier in the season, the Mavs fell to UNT 8-0 (5 innings) at the Tracy Beard College Classic in Celina, Texas (Feb. 17-19). UTA's last victory has come from Mar. 7, 2021, where the Mavericks beat the Mean Green, 2-0 in Arlington.
UTA NOTES (11-17, 2-4 WAC)
- Coming into Wednesday's game, the Mavericks hold an overall record of 11-17 and are 2-4 in conference play.
- UTA dropped all three games at California Baptist last weekend (Mar 24-25) as two of the three games were one-run losses.
- Freshman Marley Neises leads the UTA offense with a .322 batting average after starting in 21 games so far this season.
- Fifth year Sophie Wideman holds a team-high of 21 hits and a .288 average. The catcher has the second-highest RBI on the squad with 15.
- Senior Lindsey Franklin continues to provide power for the Mavericks with five home runs, 16 RBI with a .960 OPS. Over 51 at-bats, the first baseman leads with 16 walks.
- Jessica Adams and Gracie Bumpurs have spent the most in the circle for the Mavericks as Adams leads with a 2.08 ERA. With 84 innings pitched, the sophomore has 35 strike outs and six wins on the season. Bumpurs has tossed over 61 innings of work with four wins.
- So far this season, head coach Kara Dill and her staff have picked up notable victories against Texas Tech (2/10) in the season-opening Maverick Invitational and #8 Kentucky (2/17) in Celina, Texas at the Tracy Beard College Classic in just their first year leading the program.
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT | NORTH TEXAS MEAN GREEN (19-13, 5-4 C-USA)
- North Texas sits on a 19-13 overall record and 5-4 in conference play after taking three-straight losses to Western Kentucky.
- Junior Kailey Gamble leads with a .356 batting average and a 1.266 OPS. Starting in all 32 games for the Mean Green, Gamble has 31 hits on the season and 32 RBI. She is tied for fifth in the nation with 12 home runs so far this year.
- Catcher Kalei Christensen has the second-most hits on the squad with 29 and 22 RBI.
- As a four-player pitching staff, the Mean Green unit posts a 2.50 ERA with right-hander McKenzie Wagoner holds the best ERA of 1.57. Wagoner has appeared in 19 games, coming away with 60 strike outs. Across 67 innings of work, the righty has allowed just 15 earned runs.
- With six wins on the season, senior pitcher Ashley Peters sits on a low 1.85 ERA across 64.1 innings. Peters follows Wagoner closely with 58 strike outs as Peters has held opponents to just seven walks.

UTA will host the Trailblazers of Utah Tech this weekend at Allan Saxe Field for a three-game WAC series beginning with a doubleheader Friday, Mar. 31 followed by the final game Saturday, Apr. 1.
