ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington softball team (12-17, 2-4) will host the Trailblazers of Utah Tech for a three-game conference series beginning with a doubleheader Friday, Mar. 31 followed by a single game Saturday, Apr. 1 at Allan Saxe Field.
Coming into its series with Utah Tech, UTA picked up a big midweek win at home this past Wednesday against North Texas with a final score of 3-2.
This weekend, UTA Softball will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the program and honor all UTA Softball Alumni as well as recognize the 2003 Southland Conference Championship team.
This will mark the first time the Trailblazers and Mavericks will face one another in program history.

UTA NOTES (12-17) (2-4, WAC)
- UTA dropped all three games at California Baptist last weekend (Mar 24-25) as two of the three games were one-run losses, putting the Mavs at a 2-4 record in WAC play.
- Freshman Marley Neises is responsible for the three-run shot that put UTA up 3-2 over the Mean Green - which proved to be key in the comeback victory. The outfielder continues to lead the Maverick offense with a .328 BA and a .541 SLG%.
- Fifth year Sophie Wideman holds a team-high of 21 hits on a .280 average. The catcher has the second-highest RBI on the squad with 15.
- Senior Lindsey Franklin continues to provide power for the Mavericks with five home runs, 16 RBI with a .913 OPS. Over 54 at-bats, the first baseman leads with 16 walks.
- Jessica Adams holds the fourth best ERA in the WAC with a 2.08. The sophomore has appeared in 23 games for the Mavericks and has tossed over 87 innings of work.
- Junior Gracie Bumpurs earned her fifth win this season in UTA's 3-2 win over UNT. The righty has spent 65 innings in the circle for the Mavs so far with 21 strike outs.
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT – Utah Tech (20-11) (5-1, WAC)
- The Trailblazers currently lead the conference with a 5-1 record after sweeping Abilene Christian (Mar. 18-19) and taking the series at New Mexico State (Mar. 24-25).
- As a team, Utah Tech is batting .319 with eight players at .300 or higher.
- Freshman Tanya Windle has started in all 31 games so far this season as she leads with a .447 batting average, 46 hits and three triples.
- Sophomore Lauren Almeida trails Windle closely at .440 with 12 multi-hit games. The Hawaii native holds the second-best RBI (23), hits (40) and has the highest slugging percentage of .714. Of the Trailblazers' lineup, Almeida is tied with the most doubles (11) and home runs (4).
- Right-handed pitcher Sauren Garton has been Utah Tech's go-to in the circle as the freshman sits on a 2.83 ERA across 71.2 innings of work. Garton has eight wins on the year with seven complete games.

UTA will take a break from midweek action as the team will travel to Stephen F. Austin for a three-game conference series beginning Friday, Apr. 7 through Saturday, Apr. 8 in Nacogdoches, Texas.
