ARLINGTON – The UT Arlington softball team will welcome No. 10 Texas to Allan Saxe Field for a midweek matchup Wednesday with a 6 p.m. start time.

SERIES HISTORY
The Longhorns lead the overall record of 27-2 with the Mavericks as the latest matchup was back in April of 2022 where UTA fell to Texas 14-4 in Austin. The only two wins to UTA's name came back in 2001 (4-3) and 1997 (3-1).
UTA NOTES (9-11)
- UTA is coming off a 3-2 weekend as the Mavericks hosted the 4th Boerner Invitational at Allan Saxe Field (Mar. 3-5).
- The Mavs beat Rider twice with final scores of 9-2 and 2-1, and Kansas City (11-4).
- It was no doubt that the Mavericks' offense showed out over the weekend as the squad compiled 26 runs off a total of 42 hits.
- Freshman Marley Neises led the way with a .500 batting average going 5-10 with five RBI across the five games. The outfielder also tabbed her first collegiate home run in last Saturday's game against the Kansas City Roos.
- Following Neises is senior Lindsey Franklin who logged her second and third home run of the season in the Mavericks' back-to-back wins last Saturday against Kansas City and Rider. Franklin ended the weekend with six RBI leading her to 12 overall.
- Sophomore Paris Brienesse has made a huge impact in head coach Kara Dill's lineup as the lefty slapper leads with a .383 batting average.
- Brienesse has six multi-hit games under her belt so far this season and has nine stolen bases to her name. She leads with 18 hits and a .532 slugging percentage.
- Across 20 games, Sophie Wideman follows Brienesse closely with 16 hits and a .314 average. The fifth year holds the second-most RBI of 10 as senior Lindsey Franklin paces UTA's bats with 12 on the year.
- Righty pitcher Jessica Adams has had a solid start to the 2023 season as she holds a low 1.87 ERA across 63.2 innings of work. Adams leads the staff with 29 strike outs and five wins.
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT | #10 TEXAS (17-2-1)
- The Longhorns are off to a hot start to the 2023 season as the team sits on an overall record of 17-2-1.
- Texas is coming off a 5-0 weekend at its very own Longhorn Invitational with wins over Tennessee State, Louisiana (twice), McNeese and Princeton.
- Freshman Viviana Martinez proves to be key in head coach Mike White's lineup in just her first season in a Texas uniform as she leads with a .524 batting average. The infielder has logged 33 hits in 20 games and shares a team-high 21 RBI with fellow freshman Leighann Goode.
- Goode paces the Longhorns with a .794 slugging percentage and has the second-highest batting average of .456.
- Infielder Mia Scott has the most stolen bases of the squad with nine and has 11 multi-hit games under her belt.
- Three of four pitcher currently have below a 2.00 ERA; Estelle Czech (1.45), Citlaly Gutierrez (1.75) and Mac Morgan (1.88).
- Junior Czech leads with 36 strike outs across 38 innings of work. Along with Gutierrez and Morgan, Czech has tabbed five wins this season.
ON DECK
The Mavericks will turn their attention to the first conference series at Southern Utah with a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. Friday, Mar. 17 followed by the final game of the three-game series Saturday, Mar. 18.
