ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington softball team (19-24, 9-9) will kick off back-to-back weekends at home with its series against Tarleton beginning with a doubleheader Saturday, Apr. 29 followed by a single game on Sunday, Apr. 30.
This weekend's series was originally scheduled for Friday, Apr. 28 and Saturday, Apr. 29, but expected inclement weather has shifted this weekend's schedule.
This will be the first regular season meeting between the Mavericks and Texans as both teams frequently met in the fall semesters.

UTA NOTES (19-24) (9-9, WAC)
- UTA is coming off a series win at NM State last weekend as the Mavericks improved to an even 9-9 record in WAC play.
- Freshman Marley Neises leads the Mavericks with an impressive .387 batting average on the season which is the second-best in program history.
- The outfielder broke the program record for the most hits in a single game on March 17 at against Southern Utah where she logged a perfect 5-5 performance at the plate.
- In conference play alone, Neises (.448) and senior Lindsey Franklin (.412) pace UTA with the top 2 batting averages. Combined, the pair have eight home runs and 40 hits.
- Jessica Adams leads the Maverick pitching rotation with over 148 innings of work as the sophomore sits on an ERA of 2.78. The righty has 58 strike outs on the year, 12 wins and nine complete games under her belt.
- Junior Gracie Bumpurs has been the other half of head coach Kara Dill's staff as Bumpurs has appeared in 31 games for UTA this season. The right-handed pitcher has thrown 99 innings, coming away with 35 strike outs.
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT – TARLETON (24-25) (9-9, WAC)
- Tarleton sits on a 9-9 record in WAC play and 24-25 overall. Despite taking the first game against Sam Houston, the Texans dropped the final two games, losing the series to the Bearkats.
- The Texans have picked up conference series wins against Seattle U, Abilene Christian and New Mexico State.
- Four players currently hit above .300 as junior Katy Schaefer leads with a .373 batting average with 42 RBI. The infielder has a team-high of nine home runs on the year and 12 multi-hit games.
- In WAC play alone, Schaefer holds a .761 slugging percentage while six of her nine long balls have come from conference action.
- Outfielder Kelci Hill has started in all 49 games for Tarleton, pacing its offense with 56 hits. The junior holds the second-best RBI (30) and batting average (.366).
- Senior pitcher Grace Garcia has appeared in 30 games with 20 starts in the circle this season. With an 11-8 record, Garcia posts a low 3.95 ERA with 84 strike outs across 115.1 innings of work.

UTA will bring its regular season to a close next weekend with its series against Sam Houston. The Mavs will welcome the Bearkats to Allan Saxe Field for a single game on Friday, May 5 followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, May 6.
