Talented JUCO Guard Haizlip Joins UT Arlington Women's Basketball

5-9 sharpshooter led Southern Idaho to NJCAA Division I Final Four appearance

ARLINGTON, Texas --- Kali Haizlip, a 5-9 guard who is fresh off leading the College of Southern Idaho to a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I Final Four appearance, has officially signed with the UT Arlington women's basketball program.

In just one year of collegiate basketball at Southern Idaho, Haizlip averaged 9.6 points over just 16.7 minutes per game while averaging 3.3 rebounds and totaling 39 steals and 31 assists. The sharpshooter shot 44-of-124 (.355) from long distance and made nearly 78 percent of her free throws.

"Kali is a tough and physical wing who can score at all three levels," UT Arlington head coach Shereka Wright said. "We love that she will be able to impact the game with her ability to score, rebound and defend multiple positions. Kali knows what winning looks like and will be hungry to help us win a title."

The Puyallup, Wash. native earned NJCAA Honorable Mention All-Region 18 recognition after producing 15 games with at least 10 points along with a pair of 20-plus point performances, highlighted by a season-high 21 against Colorado Northwestern on Jan. 21. She also poured in 20 in a November contest against Treasure Valley.

In the national quarterfinals, Haizlip scored 12 points against Blinn College - a team featuring her future Lady Mav teammate Hannah Humphrey - to lead her team to a semifinal appearance. Overall, she led CSI to a 31-3 record overall, a Scenic West Athletic Conference championship and an NJCAA Region 18 tournament title while starting five of 34 games played.

Haizlip, a 2022 graduate of Emerald Ridge High School in Puyallup, Wash., joins a talented group of newcomers on next year's team including: Gia Adams (Tennessee State), Adéla Válková (UTEP), DJ McFarlane (Tennessee Tech), Ari Lee (Moberly Area Community College), Mango Mutanda (Jacksonville State), Hannah Humphrey (Blinn College), Miraya Perkins (Dallas Boswell High School) and Aubrey Reid (Stephen.
