ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington softball team looks to improve its overall and conference record as the Mavericks will resume WAC action with a three-game series against Southern Utah from Allan Saxe Field.
This will be just the tenth meeting between the two programs as the Mavs lead the overall record, 7-2. One season ago, UTA picked up the series win against the Thunderbirds, 2-1.

UTA NOTES (11-20, 2-3)
- The Mavericks are coming off a 1-4 week as its lone win came from an extra-inning victory against conference foe Tarleton with a final score of 4-1.
- Across the course of play last week, senior Morgan Westbrook led UTA's offense with a .571 batting average as she came away with four hits and four RBI. The outfielder tabbed her second multi-hit game of the season in the final game of the three-game series against Tarleton on Mar. 23.
- Freshman Abi Gutierrez threw her first complete game as she tossed eight innings against the Texans, receiving her fourth win in the circle this year. There, the left-handed pitcher reached a new career-high of 34 batters faced.
- Fifth year transfer Camille Corona leads the Mavericks' bats in average (.386), hits (24), multi-hit efforts (10), hitting streaks (12) and reached base streaks (15).
- Standout Lindsey Franklin continues to lead UTA in several statistical batting categories: RBI (22), slugging percentage (.573), walks (10), home runs (5), on-base percentage (.431) and multi-RBI games (6). The veteran is on her way to a season-best average at the plate as she holds a .360 average – second-best on the team.
- Kaitlyn Sailor (.306), Marley Neises (.300) and Nikki Donahue (.300) are the final three Mavericks who all hold a batting average of .300 or higher. Sailor was responsible for knocking in the go-ahead runs in UTA's extra-inning win against the Texans as she belted her second home run of her career - a two-run shot.
- In WAC play alone, senior Zaia Castruita and Westbrook both share a team-high average of .556 with five hits apiece as Westbrook leads with five RBI across five games played. As a team, the Mavericks are batting .353 in conference action with 28 runs scored.
- Senior right-handed pitcher Gracie Bumpurs sits on a low ERA of 1.91 against conference opponents as Gutierrez leads the rotation with 14 innings pitched.
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT | SOUTHERN UTAH (12-14, 2-4)
- The Thunderbirds are on a four-game losing streak after suffering a WAC series sweep from California Baptist (Mar. 22-23).
- However, Southern Utah picked up its first conference series win against Stephen F. Austin as the Birds clinched the series after a doubleheader sweep on Mar. 15.
- As a team, SUU is batting .255 with a .384 slugging percentage while scoring 87 runs off 171 hits. Their offense has knocked 18 home runs with three players batting .300 or better.
- Junior infielder Karmyna Becerra paces the team with a .352 average at the plate, eight multi-hit games, 31 hits, nine doubles and 88 at-bats.
- Fellow junior Ariyana Miranda holds a team-high of 19 RBI, eight home runs, a .688 slugging percentage with 23 strike outs.
- In the circle, Keimon Winston posts the lowest ERA among the staff with a 3.86 as freshman pitcher Emily Delgado leads with 51 strike outs across 78 innings pitched. Delgado has tossed four complete games and holds a 4-5 record on the season.

UTA will continue its midweek schedule with a Tuesday evening matchup at Texas A&M – Commerce on Apr. 2 beginning at 6 p.m.
