GAME 4 | UT Arlington 4, Tulsa 3

ARLINGTON, TX – The UT Arlington Mavericks cap off the Dream City Invitational with a victory over Tulsa on Sunday afternoon at Allan Saxe Field.

Tulsa opened the scoring in the third inning with a solo home run before extending its lead to 2-0 in the fourth. The Mavericks responded immediately in the bottom half of the fourth, plating two runs to even the score. Peyton Holland drove in a run, and Marley Neises added an RBI to knot the game at 2-2.

After Tulsa regained the lead in the fifth, UTA answered once again. The Mavericks tied the game in the sixth inning on an RBI from Talia Maldonado before walking it off in the seventh. With runners on, Maddie Furniss delivered the game-winning RBI to seal the comeback victory.

Marley Neises finished 1-for-2 with an RBI and a stolen base, while Maldonado went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Holand added an RBI and reached base twice. UT Arlington recorded five hits in the contest and played clean defensively, turning two double plays.

In the circle, Furniss earned the win after tossing four scoreless innings in relief, allowing three hits and striking out two. She did not allow a run in the final four frames to preserve the win.
The Mavericks improve to 4-5 on the season with the victory.

The Mavericks will be back at home next weekend, hosting the seventh annual Boerner Invitational, from Friday, Feb. 20 through Sunday, Feb. 22, featuring contests from Wichita State, Creighton and South Dakota.
