UTA Hosts Seventh Annual Boerner Invitational

ARLINGTON, TX - The UT Arlington softball team looks to host the Boerner Invitational, this weekend, welcoming Wichita State, Creighton and South Dakota from Friday, Feb. 20 through Sunday, Feb. 22.

The Boerner Invitational honors the memory of Melissa Boerner, a former UTA softball captain who tragically lost her life to a drunk driver the day before her senior year in 1998. The annual tournament serves to raise awareness about the importance of responsible drinking and celebrate Boerner's lasting impact on the Maverick softball program.

UTA will open the weekend with a Friday doubleheader, beginning with a 3 p.m. CT matchup against Wichita State. Before the game, UTA will unveil Boerner's replicated jersey on an outfield panel, followed by her parents participating in the honorary first pitch.

The Mavericks will close Friday's action with a 5:30 p.m. contest against Creighton.

On Saturday, the Mavericks are scheduled to face South Dakota at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

The tournament will conclude Sunday morning with an 11:30 a.m. finale showdown against Creighton.

All UTA games with be streamed on WAC International, while all neutral-site games will be available via live stats.
