UTA Travels to Abilene for First Conference Series Against Abilene Christian

ABILENE, TX – The UT Arlington Mavericks softball team opens conference play this weekend with a three-game series against Abilene Christian at Poly Wells Field.
 
UTA and ACU will begin the series with a doubleheader on Friday, March 20, scheduled for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. CT, followed by a single game on Saturday at 12 p.m.
 
The Mavericks enter conference play riding a three-game winning streak after closing out nonconference action at the Maverick Invitational. UTA defeated South Dakota State twice (4-1, 6-4) before earning a 9-2 victory over Columbia.

GAME NOTES
  • UTA went 3-1 last weekend at the Maverick Invitational, bringing their overall record to 11-14.
  • Peyton Holland and Kelsey Creech both launched home runs.
  • Marley Neises had a standout weekend as well, with multiple RBI games and monumental baserunning (including steal of home).
  • The Mavericks rank first in the WAC in FOUR categories -- double plays (12), double plays per game (0.48), home runs (26) and home runs per game (1.04).
  • Holland ranks first in the WAC in assists (63) and assists per game (2.52). Holland also ranks second in the conference for runs per game (0.96) and now sits at THIRD in home runs with six, right behind Mia McNulty at second with seven.
  • While McNulty ranks first in the conference in home runs per game (.035). She also ranks third in the WAC in runs per game (1.00).
  • Dee McClarity also ranks first in the conference in walks per game (.71).
