HOUSTON — UT Arlington moved to the top of the leaderboard Monday at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic before weather and darkness suspended second-round action at Westwood Golf Club.

The Mavericks sat at 12-under par when play was halted, holding a one-stroke advantage over tournament host Rice at 11 under. UTRGV was third at 8 under, followed by Middle Tennessee at 3 under. Abilene Christian and Sam Houston were tied at 1 under.

Monday's schedule originally called for 36 holes, but a 2 1/2-hour weather delay pushed the second round late into the evening. Play was eventually suspended before the round could be completed.

Competition will resume at 8 a.m. Tuesday, with players returning to the holes where they left off. The third and final round will begin immediately after the second round is completed.

UTA entered the Bayou City Collegiate following a tie for 10th at the Sandestin Collegiate Classic to open its season. Jen Chie Huang led the Mavericks at Sandestin, finishing runner-up at 9-under 201 after rounds of 64, 67 and 70.

The Mavericks also welcomed Ajay Morris back into the lineup for his season debut in Houston. Morris finished tied for seventh at last year's Bayou City Collegiate, closing the tournament at 5-under 211.

The Bayou City Collegiate is being played on the par-72, 7,184-yard layout at Westwood Golf Club. UTA will look to maintain its position atop the leaderboard when play resumes Tuesday morning.
