A former standout for the Mavs volleyball program, Alex Janak was added to the UTA coaching staff as a student assistant coach in August 2019. As student assistant, her duties will include helping run the volleyball social media accounts, working with the setters and helping with stats during matches.
Janak joins the UTA coaching staff after a solid senior season (2018) in the blue and orange. She appeared in 28 matches and recorded a team-high 574 assists and 254 digs to go with a conference-best and team-high 43 services aces. In the national rankings, she ranked 36th in aces per set (0.42) and 52nd in total aces (43).
The Colleyville, Texas native spent her first three seasons of her collegiate career at North Texas, where she was a three-time Conference USA Commissioner's Cup Academic Honor Roll honoree (3.0+ GPA).
While at UNT, Janak helped lead the Mean Green to a 62-36 overall record, the program’s first-ever regular season championship and the second postseason tournament berth in program history. In three seasons in Denton, Janak recorded 537 digs, 209 assists and 74 service aces in 300+ sets played.
Janak graduated with her bachelor's in university studies from UTA in 2019 and she is currently working on her master's in communications at UTA.
