Carlisa May

Carlisa May joined the UT Arlington coaching staff as an assistant coach in February 2022 after spending the prior two seasons at the University of Houston. She departed the program in June 2023 to accept an assistant coaching position at her alma mater, Arkansas State.
 
May joined the Cougar staff in August 2020, serving as a graduate assistant before being elevated to interim assistant coach for the 2021 season. During her two seasons at Houston, the Cougars went a combined 38-13 and won the American Athletic Conference West Division in 2020.
 
A native of Lee's Summit, Mo., May was one of 10 NCAA coaches to receive the 2021 AVCA Diversity Award in October 2021.
 
Prior to coaching, May was a standout outside hitter at Arkansas State, earning First Team All-Sun Belt honors all four years she played. She was also a three-time Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Year honoree and was the 2015 SBC Freshman of the Year. She finished her career as the Red Wolves all-time leader in kills (1,901) and kills per set (4.14).
