Lacey Jeffcoat, a standout Division I volleyball player who concluded her collegiate playing career at Mississippi State just this past season, joined the UT Arlington volleyball program as an assistant coach in June 2023.
Â
Jeffcoat, a defensive specialist who served as a volunteer assistant at Samford this spring, totaled 1,780 career digs over five seasons of action with the first four being at Troy University. A four-year team captain, she produced career-highs in digs (478), assists (96) and aces (36) as a sophomore with the Trojans in 2019. She left Troy with the single season record for most digs per set (4.85) and the career record for digs per set (4.05).
Â
As a fifth-year student with Mississippi State in 2022, she totaled 154 digs with five double-digit outings over 28 matches, including 12 against Oklahoma on Sept. 3.
Â
Interestingly, Jeffcoat competed against UT Arlington five times in her career while at Troy, ultimately registering 75 digs over that span, including 25 in a four-set match on Oct. 19, 2019 inside the College Park Center.
Â
Jeffcoat was a one-time Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week and Sun Belt All-Tournament Team selection while at Troy. Academically, she was named to the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll this past year at Mississippi State.
Â
A Birmingham, Ala. native, Jeffcoat prepped at Mountain Brook High School, where she led the Spartans to three-consecutive 7A state championships before being named First Team All-Alabama and the AL.com Birmingham All-Region Player of the Year.
