ARLINGTON, Texas...The University of Texas at Arlington softball team completed the three-game sweep of Southland Conference rival Southeastern Louisiana with a 3-0 win Sunday afternoon at Allan Saxe Field. With the win, the Lady Mavericks improved to 19-9 overall and remain undefeated in conference play with a 9-0 league mark. The Lady Mavericks are currently riding an eight game winning streak.
The Lady Mavericks broke open a scoreless game in the bottom of the fourth inning as Falon Kwasnick plated pinch runner April Jones with a double to left center. Melanie Williams hit a 2 RBI single up the middle to put UTA ahead, 3-0.
Junior Katy Cox earned the win for UTA to improve her record to 13-3 on the year. Cox struck out seven and allowed only one hit in 7.0 innings of work. Emily Stelly took the loss for the Lady Lions, falling to 4-10 on the year.
Texas-Arlington will take a break from league play this week as they travel to face Prairie View on Tuesday afternoon. First pitch in Tuesday's doubleheader is set for 3 p.m.
