WACO, Texas - Danielle Arnold's run-producing single to right field sent home the eventual game-winning run as Baylor defeated Texas-Arlington by a 2-1 count at Getterman Stadium in Waco. UTA falls to 13-16-1 on the year while Baylor improves to 29-6 and extends its winning streak to eight games.
The Bears struck first after loading the bases with one out in the bottom of the first. Carrie Leerberg's infield single drove in one run as BU took an early lead.
UTA answered in the fourth after Falon Kwasnick led off with her second double of the game. After being sacrificed to third, Kawsnick would tie the game on a RBI double by Beverly Rowan.
The squads fought it out until BU's Arnold singled up the middle to plate what proved to be the game winning run in the bottom of the sixth.
Lisa Ferguson earned her seventh save of the year after retiring three straight UTA batters in the seventh.
Jill Garro (9-9) was tagged with the loss for UTA after scattering six hits in a complete game effort.
Texas-Arlington will return to action this weekend as it travels to Sam Houston State for a three-game Southland Conference series in Huntsville.
