ARLINGTON, Texas - The University of Texas at Arlington's softball squad continued its hot hitting as the Lady Mavericks plated 16 runs in four innings to drop Prairie View A&M 16-0 in game two of Wednesday's doubleheader.
This game was much like the first of the afternoon as UTA knocked a season-high 18 hits and scored 16 runs.
UTA jumped in front early after plating three runs in the first inning. A lead-off walk to Falon Kwasnick came back to bite the Panthers as Amanda Haney sent Kwasnick across the plate with a single up the middle. Autumn Petrino's two-RBI double of the wall put UTA in front 3-0.
Two singles, a double and two errors led to five Lady Maverick runs in the second giving UTA an 8-0 advantage after only two complete frames.
UTA managed only one run in the third inning but drove in seven after batting through the order in the fourth. Haney's three-run home run highlighted the fourth inning.
The Panthers managed only two hits off UTA starter Lauren Hebert. Hebert (4-5) struck out seven and walked one in 5.0 innings of work.
Texas-Arlington will return to action Saturday, April 3 when it plays host to Southeastern Louisiana for a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Allan Saxe Field.
