ARLINGTON, Texas - The University of Texas at Arlington baseball team won its 1000th game as it took all the momentum from the game one walk-off home run to run-rule Texas-Pan American 12-2 in seven innings to complete the three-game sweep.

The offensive momentum continued in the first inning of the second game as the Mavs sent 11 hitters to the plate in scoring five runs. Dane Ryan started things with a single though the left side. He reached third on a balk and a passed ball before Cary Nelson drew a walk. The second error of the inning chased the starter from the game before the final run of the inning came the hard way as Josh McSpadden was hit on the foot by a pitch.

UTA (7-7) added a run in the third inning as McLeod drew a one out walk and raced to third on Batlle's single through the right side. McSpadden drove in his second run of the game with a groundout to the first baseman.

The Mavs struck again in the fourth inning as UTA pushed six more runs across. Williams goth things rolling with a single through the right side and Ryan Nelson followed with a walk. Stevens scored both runners with a double into the gap in left center field. McLeod scored Stevens with a single to right center. McSpadden singled up the middle and Ryan walked to load the bases for pinch hitter Joe Newman cleared the bases with a double over the head of the left fielder.

The Broncs (3-12) pushed a run across in the fifth inning as Zach Smith walked and came around to score on Aaron Flowers double down the left field line.

UTPA added another run in the sixth as a leadoff double by Louie Alamia came around to score on a Smith sacrifice fly to right field.

Williams led the offense with three hits, while Stevens and McLeod each collected two. Newman and Stevens drove in three runs and McLeod and McSpadden each knocked in a pair.

Grant Varnell (2-0) earned the victory by allowing one run on four hits with six strikeouts in five innings of work. Chad Linder (0-3) took the loss by allowing five runs, four earned, on four hits in one-third of an inning.
