SAN MARCOS - Three home runs from Texas State's pair of power hitters led the Bobcats to a 7-0 win over Texas-Arlington late Friday evening in the season opener for both squads at the 2005 Texas State/Century Tel Classic.
Texas State's A. Hromadka doubled with two outs to extend the third frame and a Krueger double through the left side put the Bobcats in front 1-0.
The 'Cats struck again in the sixth after back-to-back home runs from Trahan and Bonetti pushed the lead to three.
In the final frame Bonetti connected for her second home run of the day, a two run shot, to cap off the 'Cats 7-0 win.
UTA managed only three hits in the contest, led by sophomore Courtni Anderson with two. Junior Jill Garro (0-1) was tagged with the loss after tossing 4.0 innings and allowing one run on three hits. Nicki Wilson closed out the game for the Lady Mavs, allowing six runs on seven hits in her UTA debut.
Tournament action continues as the Lady Mavericks will face Northern Colorado to close out day one action.
