Katie Jones' double to left field score Lacey Leadbetter with two outs in the 11th to give UT-Arlington a 5-4 win over McNeese State in the Southland Conference opener both teams Saturday afternoon.
UTA (7-6, 1-0) rallied from a 4-2 deficit in the 10th after McNeese State scored twice with the international tie-breaker rule in effect.
In the top of the 10th, a Brooke Brodhead single to left scored Callie Schiro to break a 2-2 game. Jana Jones dribbler down the third base line was too tough for Courtney Anderson to handle as the ball slide under her glove and allowed Christina Allen to score to make it 4-2 with one out. UTA stopped the bleeding as Jessica Denham struck out looking and pinch hitter Michelle LaVoie grounded out.
With one out. Autumn Petrino singled up the middle to score Katie Jones. Brittany Stevens tied the game 4-4 with a single to score Petrino.
UTA took an early 2-0 lead in the game. Fortune doubled with with two outs to score Amanda Swofford who led off the game with a double to left-center field. In the fourth inning, Fortune hit her fourth home run of the season - a line drive to skim over the left field fence for a 2-0.
The lead held up until the sixth when McNeese's Brodhead scored on a passed ball with one out. The Cowgirls tied the game in the seventh on Brodhead's two-out single to centerfield to score Kristi Hanan.
Senior Jill Garro (4-3) scattered 11 hits in the complete-game decision. She allowed just one earned run in the gfame and struck out eight.
GAME NOTES: The 11-inning game was the longest since a 2-1 loss in 11 innings at Baylor in 1998.
