SHREVEPORT, La. - The Texas-Arlington women's team defeated Louisiana-Monroe, 4-3, Saturday afternoon in Southland Conference play.

Texas-Arlington (11-7, 9-1 SLC) started off on the right foot, winning all three doubles matches to take the doubles point.

In singles play, the Lady Indians (11-6, 6-3 SLC) took victories in the top three positions, but the Lady Mavericks responded with wins in the other three singles positions. Junior Monika Peciulionyte defeated Pauline Bourdet, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1, at the number four position and senior Anete Rozkalne bested Giovanna Arrondo, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, at the number five position. Junior Marissa Brown defeated Sharon Makhanya, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, at the number six position.

The Mavericks will finish the regular season on Thursday, when they host crosstown-rival #20 TCU. First-serve is set for 2 p.m. at the UTA Tennis Center.
