ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington women's tennis swept Centenary 7-0 in its home opener Thursday. Five Mavs posted straight set wins to take all the singles points then teamed up to sweep the doubles point.
Senior Monika Peciulionyte got the match started in the No. 1 singles slot with 6-0, 6-0 win over Kristina Collins, and paired with Simri van Rooyen to take the first doubles match 8-0.
Daniela Novakova was the only Mav to drop a set on way to her 6-1, 6-0 win over Christine Majchrowicz. Van Rooyen, Sofya Lifanova, Marissa Brown and Sara Pesic all took wins over Centenary 6-0, 6-0 to secure six points for the Mavs.
Novakova paired with Pesic while Brown teamed with Lifanova to sweep the doubles point, all posting 8-0 wins.
UTA will be back on the courts as it opens conference play against Texas State on Sunday at 10 a.m. at the UTA Tennis Center.
