ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington women's tennis swept UT San Antonio 7-0 in a SLC dual match in Arlington on Saturday. With the win the Mavs improve to 7-2 overall and 4-1 in conference matches on the season.
The Mavs started the match by winning all the doubles matches to lead 1-0 heading into singles competition. UTA then went on to win all six of the singles matches for the complete match sweep.
In the No. 1 and No. 2 slots Monika Peciulionyte and Daniela Novakova won 6-2 6-4 and 6-1 6-2 respectively to give UTA the 3-0 lead.
Simri van Rooyen eventually took the win as the No. 3 single after droping the first set 6-7, she came back to win 7-5 10-8.
Sofya Lifanova won easily 6-1 6-1 over Sandra Kukla in the No. 4 slot. Senior Marissa Brown battled back from dropping the first set 2-6 to win 7-5 7-6 for the sixth point of the match. Sara Pesic also cam back to win in three to secure the Mavs fourth sweep of the season.
UTA will be back in action on Sunday as they welcome Texas A&M Corpus Christi to Arlington. The match is set to start at 10 a.m.
