NATCHITOCHES, La. - UT Arlington women's tennis improved its Southland Conference record to 6-1 and 9-2 overall with a 5-2 win over Northwestern State on Sunday.
The Mavs swept all the doubles matches to take the 1-0 lead heading into singles competition. UTA then took four of six singles points for the win.
Sara Pesic won in straight sets 6-0 6-0 over Mary Corder while Sofya Lifanova retired Marine Neveu in the No. 4 spot.
In the No. 2 slot Daniela Novakova remained unbeaten in singles competition winning 6-2 6-1 improving her record to 11-0 on the season. Simri van Rooyen clinched the Mavs final point of the match 6-4 6-4 as the No. 3 single.
Monika Peciulionyte and Marissa Brown both won their first sets, but eventually fell giving the Demon's their only two points of the match. As the No. 1 single, Peciulionyte fell 4-6 6-4 11-9 and Brown lost 2-6 6-1 6-1 to Daniela Posada in the No. 5 slot.
The Mavs will continue SLC action as they play a make up match with Central Arkansas on Monday at 11 a.m. in Conway Arkansas.
