COLLEGE STATION, Texas - UT Arlington women's tennis won its ninth straight match on Monday 5-1 over Lamar. The win improves UTA's record to 13-2 overall and 8-1 in conference matches.
Senior Daniela Novakova maintained her unbeaten streak with the 7-5 6-3 win over Maria Gutierrez in the No. 2 singles match. Novakova teamed up with Sara Pesic in the No. 2 doubles slot to seal the doubles point 8-2.
In the No. 3 spot Simri van Rooyen came back to claim the point after dropping the second set but then went on to win the tiebreaker 7-5 4-6 7-6 (11-9). Freshman Sofya Lifanova won her point in three sets after dropping the first 3-6 6-1 6-4, while Marissa Brown also won her point in three sets 6-2 4-6 5-0.
The Mavs will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Thibodaux, La. for a SLC match with Nicholls starting at 10 a.m.
