Moment No. 14: Lady Mavs crush rivals on the road
The Best of 2015-16 continues with a look at one of the largest victories in UT Arlington women's basketball history, a milestone win over Texas State on the road that earned coach Krista Gerlich her 200th-career win.

Entering the Feb. 9 meeting in San Marcos, the Bobcats had the Lady Mavericks' number, reeling off a five-game streak against UTA that included elimination in the 2015 Sun Belt Conference Championship in New Orleans in the previous meeting.

After Texas State scored the opening three points, UTA opened up a 20-3 run, turning over Texas State eight times in the opening quarter. Shooting 69.2 percent from the field in the second quarter, UTA took a 42-16 lead into the break.

The 80-48 final score was the second largest margin in the I-35 series and sophomore Rebekah VanDijk exploded with a 26-point effort, a career mark that stood until the home meeting with the Bobcats when she would pour in 33 points.

Amara Wainwright finished just an assist away from the all-time single-game record with eight, while Cierra Johnson chipped in with seven.

The win over Texas State helped tie the team's best all-time five-game road trip with a 4-1 record, which was last achieved in the 1990-91 season and pushed UTA into a tie for fourth in the SBC standings.
