ARLINGTON, Texas -- Crystal Allen's game-winning 3-pointer with seven seconds remaining lifted the UTA Lady Mavericks to a 58-55 win over SMU on Sunday afternoon at College Park Center.

UTA (4-0) earned the last-second, hard-fought win over SMU (1-3) behind the late-game heroics of Allen, a native of Fort Worth. Tied at 55, Allen drilled a triple from the wing to take a 58-55 lead and the Mustangs misfired on their game-tying attempt as time expired to lift the Lady Mavs to the win.

The Lady Mavs rallied from a 33-31 hole at halftime and posted the trilling win despite the Mustangs outrebounding the Lady Mavs 50-27. UTA outscored the Mustangs 14-7 in the fourth quarter and owned a 24-23 lead in bench points.

LEADING THE Lady Mavs
Allen paced the offense for the Lady Mavs, totaling a game-high 18 points, including four three pointers. UTA also got double-figure outings from Daiane Machado and Shelby Richards off the bench, with Machado notching career highs in 10 points and seven rebounds. UTA also got nine rebounds from Rebekah VanDijk, seven points from Laurynn McGowen and five points from Aysia Evans.

Machado got the Lady Mavs on the board to open and after Evans evened it up with a bucket off the dribble, UTA took the lead, its first of the game, after Machado finished in the paint. After an SMU run, Allen answered with a pair of triples from the wing to cut the SMU lead to 25-24 with just under four minutes left. SMU stretched its lead to 31-26 before the Lady Mavs went on a quick 5-0 run, getting a jumper from Machado and a triple from Allen to even it at 31-31 but the Mustangs nailed a jumper as time expired to go up 33-31 at the half.

After back-to-back buckets the Mustangs took a 37-36 lead, stretching it to 39-36 before Allen drilled a jumper. After the media timeout, UTA got a jumper from Machado and a pair of free throws from Richards to cut the lead to 44-42 but took a 48-44 hole into the break.

FOURTH QUARTER
The Mustangs built a lead early in the fourth, before Richards drilled a triple from the corner to cut it to 51-47. After a Machado bucket in transition the Lady Mavs cut the lead to 51-50 with six minutes left. The teams combined to go nearly seven minutes without scoring before trading buckets in the paint with just under three minutes remaining in regulation. With 1:35 left in the half, UTA took a three-point hole into the final media timeout. After swiping a loose ball on the defensive end, Richards completed the play by finishing an and-one to even the game at 55-55 with 58 seconds left.
