Head Coach Krista Gerlich

Opening statement:
"I thought that was a great win for us. I think SMU does a great job and I love their coaching staff. They are building there program up and we've been there before so it was a really big win for us. I had several people that stepped up. Obviously we're playing without Cierra and I think that that's difficult to do when you first rattle out of the box and don't have one of your leaders with you. I thought our kids really held on together and stayed unified."

On how to play when VanDijk is targeted:
"We actually were kind of going away from her because we knew they were gonna be really big against her. We tried to counter that at times and I don't think we did a great job at it, but she didn't have a ton of shots early that she missed, we just did't get her any. I thought in the second half we did a little bit better job at getting her the ball. I did think her last bucket was really big. We have a lot of weapons. The past four years you've seen us go right to her every time and now we have the luxury of having some other options."

On coming out with a victory:
"We came out and played aggressively and I think we followed the game plan really well. Everything we do in practice carries over to the game. We showed up this morning at the shoot around focused and determined, watched film focused and determined, and played the game focused and determined."

On the last shot to win the game:
"It felt kinda good when I let it go. I knew it was gonna go in because I have the confidence in my self. Coach had drew up the play for me and it didn't really turn out the way it was supposed to, but I ran and got the ball and knew I had to let it loose since time was running out. I felt good after knowing and seeing that I made the shot."

"I think the game went pretty well. I know lately we've been struggling with some adversity but it just feels really great to be a part of a team that has everyones back no matter what and is gonna step up and rise up in every area that we possibly can.
